CTD directly after starting a mission. (F2_open.log included)
Hey,

so far i didn't have any problems with Freespace Open, using different Pilots for every mod.

But today i started having weird CTDs, i wasn't able to track down by myself.

Basically they happen after being in a mission for a few seconds but never at the same moment.
Sometimes even lingering in the briefing screen will cause one.

Removing flags and alternating Pilots/Mods/etc did not help.

My Specs:
Win XP, all recent updates & service packs.
Cure 2 Duo 6400.
Radeon HD 4800 Series
4GB of Corsair Ram.

FS2_Open.logs:
http://pastebin.ca/1990512 (only graphical goodness for FS2)
http://pastebin.ca/1990511 (using silent threat reborn)

"Found root pack 'E:\Freespace 2\data\fsport-str-voice.vp' with a checksum of 0xe72dc0dc"

What's that doing there? Move it into fsport-str.

Also you have almost none of the good graphical options turned on! Turn on shine, env, glow, normal, enable lighting on missiles, warp flash, 3d warp, enable 3d ship selection, and enable 3d weapon selection.

I moved the voice package to another folder as it was one of the latest files added before the crash and a possible cause for the CTD.
Thought it wouldn't read it then.

The graphic-flags are turned off as i wanted to narrow down the CTD, FS2 worked flawlessly with all the graphical stuff turned on before.

I don't suppose it's a simple as you accidentally started playing with a debug build?

Unfortunately our lead support guy is asleep. But you should be able to get more helpful responses soon.

Only touched it to get the fs2_open.log.

Well, i "waited" several years to play Freespace again, i can wait a couple of days ; ).

Thanks for all the great work you're doing.

I wonder. Could you try going over to the Source Code Project forum, into the Nightly Builds forum, and getting a recent nightly? See if it's any more stable. It will at the very least be faster.

Nope, didn't help.

a nightly build log:
http://pastebin.ca/1990606 (no mods at all; most graphic flags)   <--- it crashed shortly into the mission
http://pastebin.ca/index.php (with Silent Threat: Reborn)             <--- crashed before entering the mission; upon exiting the first part of the briefing  ("welcome to the secret service")

both are reproducible

Could you make sure your video card drivers are up to date? Unless some of your core FS files are corrupt, this doesn't look like a FreeSpace Open error...where did you get the FS2 files from?

Drivers are up to date, FS2 is from GOG.

What's weird is that it has been working so far and broke without any significant change to graphics/mod/pilot/whatever.

I'm re downloading most FS Open files atm, to check if it's a corruption issue.

Try a new pilot file.
No-one ever listens to Zathras. Quite mad, they say. It is good that Zathras does not mind. He's even grown to like it. Oh yes. -Zathras

Tried already.

In fact:
Tried different ones, tried new ones, tried different ones with the same mod, tried the same pilot file with different mods or not mods at all.
