DSC Kirov
Medium-sized, all-purpose cruiser featuring parts that other factions in the galaxy abandoned as obsolete decades ago, powered by an extremely unreliable and dangerous nuclear power plant (rear section). While radioactive leakage, meltdown, and mechanical failures are fairly commonplace in this class, certain innovations in the design allow more than 100 Kirovs to be produced in a single year, and their characteristic leakage of gamma radiation and radioactive waste often provides an unexpected advantage in combat, as it thoroughly jams enemy sensors and can be quite lethal to unprotected capital ships from close range. More recent versions of the craft feature a specialized cap on the waste storage section (to the left), allowing it to emit a burst of lethal radiation in the general area straight ahead at will.
