Help Needed - The Lost Generation
Hi...
This doesn't have an easy way from my brain down to my keyboard but it has to be said (well, written) nontheless - Because of certain recent "developments" that involve certain levels of political escalation at my University I'm tied up between being a small-time politician, my actual studying (which took a hard turn after I failed in a curtial exam last year) and my private life - as the result I'll have to go on without my proper fix of FREDing for some time...

However on the other side, I have this project that I wish to see completed regardless: "The Lost Generation" (shot TLG)

TLG had a good go 2009 and 2010 when FREDing became my way of dealing with stress from University, and during that time there were some changes - one campaign became two, one nearly reached completion and one had to be re-worked from square one again and again.
After such a push I'm not willing to let this project die because I failed in more than one respect and I would rather see it spring back to life and making progress towards release.

When it comes to the story of the campaigns let's just say:

Campaign NTF - Sam Ashcroft
Spoiler:
You will be placed in the role of a new NTF recruit who joins the NTF forces in Polaris while the Rebellion is pushed against the wall. Surrounded by weary soldiers and die-hard fanatics you have to see that the Neo-Terra does not die.
On the run with the Iceni and with agents of the GTVI searching for you personally you fight to reach the Knossos Portal in Gamma Draconis and the answers that you may find on the other side.

Campaign GTVA - Jarin
Spoiler:
The order came and you could not believe it: The GVD Meretsenger, the flagship of the 9th Vasudan Battlegroup, had been ordered from the defense of Alpha Centauri to Gamma Draconis System. And this is where your role in this war is changing.
Instead of fighting the NTF Rebellion you and your wingmen are forced to fight against the nemisis of your fathers - but the Nebula beyond Gamma Draconis holds more secerts than you realise...

The NTF-campaign is nearly complete; 5 missions out of 19 that are not complete yet but aside from one mission (the NTF attack on the Epsilon Pegasi-Capella Jump Node) they should be fairly easy to complete... The fiction is done as well.
With those missions done only a little story-glueing here and there and its ready for the community to see. I'll personally finish this campaign once the opportunitiy arises (April/May 2011 would be my best guess but it is nothing but a guess)...

The GTVA-campaign is another story (that pun left a bad taste while travelling down).
While it is outlined and appearnly nothing stand between putting that writing into action, I always have the feeling that I'm just copying from another campaign (most prominently from "Derelict").
And this is where my call for help begins...

What I need is one or two capable FREDers to make the GTVA campaign happen.
Said FREDers should be able to work as a team under my supervision, you'd have to acknowledge that this is my work and while all input is (very) welcome I have the last word.

If you haven't stopped reading yet I assume that you at least fake interest, so I'll tell you what you need to convince me that you are one of the said FREDers:
You will have to FRED a mission set during the Second Shivan War (from the destruction of the GTC Vigilant to the battle of Capella). Most of the details of said mission are up to you: mission objectives, plot and the sophistication of your presentation (= use of in-game cutscenes etc).
However I require of you to put an emphasis on how your human and vausdan characters act as they are confronted with the hostile Shivans (Fear? Arrogance?). Another condition is that you use as little mods as possible (prefereably 0).

Once you have that mission in a full working orders (release quality), upload it to freespacemods.net (Category Single Missions -> SCP only) and send PM me so I can grab it when the opportunity arises.... As soon as I get to playing that mission I'll PM you to tell you what I think (I hope I can manage to play at least on weekends)...

ps. I know this whole things as only a slim chance of success but it's better than simply waiting for miracles to happen ;)

Re: Help Needed - The Lost Generation
Any more Takers?

To draw some attention: the (current version of) intro piece of fiction from the Jarin campaign:

Spoiler:
''For a day and a night the Bright Star burned in the sky. Its light was brighter than the sun, and during that night all of Vasuda was bathed in its radiance as if the sun had never set behind the horizont. The common people gathered in fear, chanted to honour their ancestors and prayed that the Time of the Shadow and Fire, of the Burning Heavens and the End of all Vasudankind had no yet come.
After the light of the star faded away and its place in infinite night skies remained empty for another two day and two nights and the End had no yet come, the people returned to their lives.

But in the city of Qno the Emperor gathered the wisest of the Elders for his realm. Although He was the wisest of wise and from a dynasty with great insight, it was His will that the Elders would interpret the omen of the Bright Star.
The rites of divination and incantations to the souls of Ancestors took weeks but return nothing the Elders could report to the Emperor. The Ancestors had not answered to the pleas of their decendants of flesh. Divinations from the entrails of the Apsu-Hek did return nothing that could be determined as sign of the future.
Outraged by the failings of this Elders the Emperor ordered them to be exiled them into the deserts, as it was custom.

As the Emperor's soldiers brought the Elders to the town gates, a figure approached the Emperor's court, a beggar monk shrouded in rags to imitate the fine garnments of the Imperial court. The Emperor was about to order the monk's execution for his transgression but before an order could be given the monk spoke to the Emperor:
'You seek the answer behind the Bright Star, for you are a wise ruler and head signs from the cosmos. The secret of the Star was given to my brotherhood by the Prophets - just as they gave their wisdom to your family at the dawn their rule.
The Bright Star is waymark and a warning - The Vasudan people shall never attempt to reach out into the infinity of the cosmos. That way lies only hybris and defeat for the Cosmos does not forgive those who transgress its laws.' ''

from the ''The Scroll Of Qno''
4th Book, 23rd Chapter
Dated back to approximately 306 CE

For those who like a little bit of NTF - the same from the Ashcroft campaign:

Spoiler:
When the Neo Terran Front entered its darkest hour, the nature of the movement was long forgotten, the fanatics had long replaced the visonaries.

On their final run from Polaris and Regulus to Gamma Draconis the remaing "Rebels" showed their ture nature. From Koth's mad charge against the GTVA Colossus to the desperate push of last NTF ships to Knossos Portal the destructive Kraken Neo Terra had become was unleashed.

The ideology that the gave the youth of over half a dozen of terran colony worlds a perspective for a better tomorrow has been compromised during the eighteen-months of warfare.
Hatred and fear destroyed the vision of a better tomorrow - a process the Alliance fueled.

In spite of the General Assembly shifting the blame to the Military and the Military denying it alltogether, we have to face the facts.
The downward spiral of bloodshed and retaliation between the GTVA and NTF served the Alliance more than the NTF. Breaking the ideology of Neo Terra, changing it into the monster we remember it to be, never served Aken Bosch - unlike what the so-called "heros" of this war want us to acknowledge.

And so, one year after their final stand in Gamma Draconis we are left to wonder:
Was Aken Bosch truely the architect behind all this madness or a visioary, powerless to stop what rose in the shadow of his work?
