I've been kicking this idea around for a long time, and thought I'd get some input from you guys, since you are something of my creative conscience.
For those who don't know, I am an avid rider of my motorcycle.
For those who don't know, I have a handicapped daughter.
And for those who don't know, everyone in my house has a way to compete with peers, thus our interest in Special Olympics with our daughter.
The idea is simple, we send a torch to San Diego. We organize a series of benefit rides (poker runs), cost is about 25 dollars for the rider, 10 for the passenger (if any). The idea is that the torch makes a one way trip from San Diego to St. Augustine, FL. Each poker run is a roundtrip and at the halfway point in the trip (the turnaround), the torch passed off for the next run, which is the following week. In this way, the torch makes its way from coast to coast. All proceeds benefit the Special Olympics.
