Thread title says it all. We keep having threads like
this or help requests on IRC on a weekly-ish basis because newbies are still trying to use the old, outdated installer.
Now, this is not
their fault. Although it is written all over the place on HLP that the installer is obsolete, that's not necessarily the case outside of HLP, where mirrors are probably set up. However, the installer grabs its data from somewhere (that's the point of an online installer, grab everything from a single place).
If that place is under our control, we need to take it down now. Preventing the old installer from working at all is the best way to make sure people don't end up with broken installs, until the new installer gets completed.
So the question is : can we do that, and if so, why hasn't it been done yet.
