Sol a History-- Won't run.
Trying to get the old Sol A History campaign going, as I rather love the storyline and similar.  I have the FS open installer, and mediavps 3612 (these may be old.)  I set the launcher to look at the SAH folder for the mod, changed the mod ini to look at the 3612 mediavps (I also tried it without changing this) and it won't load.  The first few times I got an error about a mask or something similar in the main screen, now it doesn't even make it to the pilot load screen before I get an error about the soundtrack or similar.  I can point the launcher to look at the inferno release, but SAH doesn't show up in the campaigns list (like it used to) and I don't know how to set it so it would...  Help?

Is this it?  I had the launcher set to sol a history, then ran the FS2open3.6.12_d_inf exe, and then this was in my freespace2/data folder.

The current crash is because SAH isn't using tbm's for music stuff and that causes hickups with the current MediaVPs. Downloading this file and putting it into your \freespace2\SAH\ folder will fix that part. Other errors unrelated to this matter can manifest, though.

Should be -mod SAH,INFR1,mediavps_3612

You probably don't want to use both mediavps and mediavps_3612.  Also there is a remake of SAH on freespacemods.net which should work better than the original.  You do need INFR1 and also the SCP patch installed in the INFR1 folder.  All of those are available on freespacemods.net
Normal people believe that if it isn't broke, don't fix it. Engineers believe that if it isn't broke, it doesn't have enough features yet.
The difference between Mechanical Engineers and Civil Engineers is:

All right. got the old inferno R1, put it in a folder, and now everything works like it should, at least for the first couple of missions.

A secondary question-- is there any way to set it up so other mods/main campaign will use those pretty graphics inferno has? (I'm assuming it's inferno, since when I played a few missions of the main campaign it didn't look like this) The hud and other ships look great.  This is not meant to be an insult, I just wanted to know.

There are the mediaVPs. If you select those as active mod in the launcher, FS2 is made much prettier. How much depends on which features you enabled in the launcher.
There is also a page on the wiki for lighting settings, which make a huge difference. Here's the link: http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/index.php/Sample_Lighting_Settings

You could also take whatever you liked from other mods and put those files together into your personal mod in it's own folder (just don't give it to others without asking first and giving credit), though that can very easily lead to compatibility problems if you're just going to experiment around without knowing what you're doing.

What you are referring to are, almost certainly, the MediaVPs, which have nothing to do with Inferno.

So it's all because I disabled normal mediavps, and not because of anything else?  Wow.  I feel a little dumb now.
