What to do with .Patch Files?
Being a (somewhat) long-time member of HLP, I feel somewhat embarrassed to have to ask this openly.  I did in fact do a search to see if anyone has asked this question before, with no useful results.  The question is this:

What do I do with .patch files?  Specifically, I have decided to give the Shadows Alpha builds a try, but I'm not sure where to put it all and what I need.  For this, do I need all the patch files from all Alpha builds, or do I just need the one from the most recent Alpha 3 build?  Obviously, the shaders should go in the effects folder, as indicated in the .rar, but I'm still not sure about the .patch files, as indicated.

The main reason that I'm so clueless regarding .patch files, is because I was away from the community for some time... RL distractions... and so I missed their introduction into FSO mainstream.

BTW, you may want to make a small blurb in the read-this-first section regarding .patch files and their general use.

Thanks all.

Re: What to do with .Patch Files?
The .patch files are for those with the source code. Most non-coders can ignore them. If you have the code then you can use the SVN program of your choice to apply the patch files - if you compile and build after that then your builds will have the changes applied to them. I'm pretty sure there's a post around here somewhere explaining how to get SVN and the source code.

[17:00] <RangerKarl> same thing really, if you think about it

Ah, so I've got no problems then.  Thank you.  :)
