Re: Yes I'm alive.. how are you

HA!
The loudest detractor of MS now works for the beast.
HA! I say!
/*looks at house*/
oh...

they've cleaned up their act a lot [well.. as much as any large corporation].   with an internal view now it is amusing how wrong external views are....  the various divisions are much more likely to stab each other in the back than conspire to do anything.   the cause of the monopolistic behavior more came down to "not invented here" attitudes [and just incompetence in some divisions implementing standards] than actual conspiring, lol.

well at least you are fighting against Apple's ever lasting campaign to turn computers from a multi-purpose device capable of solving any problem into a trendy prison for your data.

apple has always, in my opinion, needed to go eat a bag of dicks

me? I'm a web developer in New York now, do PHP stuff for internal Verizon projects.

cool.. but don't get bored! back when i was a LAMP programmer i was bored of out of my skull

oh.. and I work on Windows Server Failover Clustering.. as a tester (testers require the same skills as developers are Microsoft... they write the product, i wrote code to break the product and also help design fixes, new features, etc.)

Re: Yes I'm alive.. how are you
yeah, joking aside, MS has been a lot nicer lately.
you are assuming that Apple hasn't already patented eating a bag of dicks and is currently in the early stages of broad based litigation against the LGBT community for infringing upon it's intellectual property.
well, it's a fun company, and we like to hit things in a patterned way, so it is at least entertaining in it's own way, I can see how this like of work could be made to be insufferable though. fortunately my shop seems to be avoiding that.

would be nice if I could by a house, unfortunately I A) have no money for a down payment, and B) live in westchester county NY, just about the most expensive place to live outside of Tokyo.

Re: Yes I'm alive.. how are you
microsoft's monopoly comes from:

pioneering the selling of farts (bill gates practically invented software licensing).
creating a dependency on their products by encouraging closed source development on their platform.
convincing people to buy the same products over and over again in the name of keeping up to date.

i neither hate nor like ms. but as soon as reactos hits beta, its time to say **** windows.

Re: Yes I'm alive.. how are you
did you say shield editing?
It's only affine transformations.

i was thinking of adding multipurpose features, but the core POF editing functionality was always #1.   i see that new file format support after DAE is getting refused.. you realize the entire purpose of the PMF internal format (serializing it to disk was a trivality) was to make adding new file formats easier, right? :D
It's not so much refused as I have no interest in adding support for any new formats, and nor does anyone else.

@google now, if you're interested.

Re: Yes I'm alive.. how are you
i think its more that collada is a super format, its supported by a lot of software, and supported well and consistantly. its just rendering all the closed proprietary formats somewhat obsolete and far more cumbersome to deal with. i wrote an obj parser for my own game engine not to long ago, but i couldnt imagine for the life of me why anyone would use the format for model import. for me it was ok because my engine is stuck in the opengl stone age (1.3) because its written entirely in lua, but its features are rather basic.

Re: Yes I'm alive.. how are you
obj is nice in that it's super easy to write a parser for it. even if the format is inconsistently used.

Sydney.

Holy heck, my brother went there for training back in December. Remember any visiting Americans back around then, or do you get too many visitors to notice?
