Shrinkwrapped Spitfires beneath Burma
Just saw a report linked over on slashdot about the possibility of intact Spitfires buried in Burma back in 1945. Seeing as these were still in their crates, wrapped against the elements, there's a good chance they'd still be in good condition if they can be dug up. It'll be nice to have a few extra working Spitfires around nowadays.

I love it war relics are found in good condition, and this sure as hell beats dragging degraded tanks out of Russian bogs. Plus, I couldn't resist the excuse for making an incredibly bizarre, yet wholly accurate, thread title.

I was hoping they had found one of them, the problem here is the RAF destroyed the records of where they were buried though they have some suspected locations, fingers crossed a few are ok

There have been maaaaany rumours about similar things in Aus re: shrink-wrapped Spits. This is some cool **** though.
