The first forum I ever really became heavily invested in was X-Plane.org, which of course revolves around doing things with the X-Plane flight simulator. I still paruse the forums regularly, but I've not made much an effort to really get a new project going. Why do my hobbies, which I consider fun, require so much strenuous effort to conduct?
I became a member on the Starshatter mods forum after the project went open source, but I did not much care for the principle admin of the site after an exchange of dialogue pretaining to understanding how things work in the software. I moved away from the site at that point, really. I've had other less-than-cheery echanges on forums, and I in fact made an example of the FreeFalcon forums in the Stellar Assault board for what a project "should not be." I've grown to like their odd mannerisms, however, and I still regularly browse their forum. They seem to have become a much more tame location in recent months, which is quite nice.
Lastly, I think if I join a new forum, ww2aircraft.net may be the next one. In my myriad aviation research interests, that forum has come up many times, provides absolutely wonderful information, and is very well moderated so far as I can tell. But, for most matters, HLP covers most of the bases.
