I've never liked Jar Jar Abrams' work. I don't know what people see in him.
He did one thing I loved, and that was the tv-show
Fringe. As for his movies, I certainly don't see him as God's gift to sci-fi geeks. Yea his movies aren't George Lucas level of terrible, but they're not brilliant either. Star Trek can be passable as a completely brainless sunday after-lunch flick when your system is far too busy digesting the copious amounts of food recently ingested to worry about horrible plot holes, overdone CGI with lens flares and shaky cam that make it impossible to figure out what's going on during the action scenes

That all being said, I guess it's fortunate I haven't cared for the Star Wars franchise for years now, so I really won't be upset if his new Star Wars ends up bad. Hell I doubt I'll even want to go watch the thing, I guess I've seen one too many lightsaber fights followed by 5 cent morality lessons with the occasional inter-action "witty" remark. Star Wars bore me. Yes, even the originals, though they're a lot better than the prequels. If he makes a Portal movie, though.. I just might go see that. I dearly loved both games, and you can never have enough GLaDOS.
