I am making a note here, huge success! Aperture funded giant robots. Yes.

(Does this even have anything to do with Aperture Science, other than the fact that that's obviously Ellen McLain's voice?)

Nope. :P It's looking like a westernized Evangelion to me, or maybe I have been reading too much TVTropes. But hey, Ron Perlman is in it.

It's a homage to Kaiju according to Guillermo del Toro.

Just putting it out there: Legendary Pictures is also making a Godzilla movie in 2014.

Re: This Was a Triumph...(Pacific Rim)
This trailer leaves me asking a question I've been stuck with before. Namely: why is it that an otherwise relatively shallow movie/game when it comes to reaching at your emotions, manages to give a really good rousing speech?

Considering the bodyarmor in this movie shares a lot with ME, I'm guessing it's either failed or done with the armored segments.

E: Sidenote: the Japanese rookie pilot is supposedly this close to being a love letter to every female pilot from Evangelion. Not sure how reliable that is. Kinda hope it's true.

"To fight monsters, we created monsters."

Yeah, it's live action Evangelion in the ocean.

Re: This Was a Triumph...(Pacific Rim)
Yeah, it's live action Evangelion in the ocean.

Evangelion wishes it had rocket-powered punches, Chinese Megaman With A Spare Arm, Russian Teslafist Robots With Nuclear Reactor Exhaust Stacks For Heads, and names like Coyote Tango. Also speeches as good as Dat Idris Elba.

The references, if they are references, are a tiny bit more subtle than whole-plot. Especially since they claim to deal with two stages, first deployment, then bring in a years-later portion.

Well... yeah I know it's not literally Evangelion, it was just the first thing that came to mind watching the trailer.
