well, now windows doesn't work anymore, I deleted the folder, but there's parts of it remaining, and I can't delete them. Windows won't install, it wants me to get rid of the old one first ( which I can't delete ). Now, as I said, only way is to back up my files and format the disk.

c:> DELTREE WINDOWS

y [enter]

That will get rid of all of windows.

Now just get a friends win95 bootdisk with a copy os "sys.com" on it, boot up on the floppy

A:> sys c:

y [enter]

Win98 should then install happily.

Try renaming the moo.reg back first, and run scanreg.exe (go start, run, type scanreg, enter). It may be able to fix up the registry error. If it doesn't work, try running scandisk to fix a possible corruption of the file. If it can't (or the file isn't corrupt or doesn't think the file is), try uninstalling the program it is associated with (.reg files are linked to programs).

as I said, windows is dead, it's half deleted. plus I've already searched for moo.reg, I found it once, and never again, just as if it had been deleted.

Damn... you just had to go and delete the folder didn't you? lol...try keeping the drive as a second drive when you install windows onto the 80 Gb hdd. Or possibly you could try inserting your windows CD, goto the tools folder, then sysrec, then try running pcrestor.bat
