Boats in water (Split from Visual representation of wealth inequality)
I think the big question for me is to what extent the same systems that have created such enormous inequality have also helped improve standards of living for everyone - the 'rising tide lifts all boats, though some more than others' model.

sweet jesus did the person who made that pithy quote know anything about... boats?

I think ultimately it can be traced back to not actually understanding water.
