As part of my campaign I'm hoping to edit the techroom and species tbl files to add extra background information, weapons info, etc.  Is there a size limit for these files?

I think the limit is 380k. But just get rid of the description of some fighters or just remove the fighters, gunplattforms etc that your not gonna use in your campaign.

no the description is the thing that takes up the most space so i say get rid of the descriptions to make more room

Yeah, I pulled out all the comments from the ships.tbl and got a 270-odd k file.

I find that the Species.tbl is impossible to add an entry to. If you do add an entry, it won't show up in game unless you replace an entry.

I wanted to add some extra background info on the Capella aftermath / SCP for my campaign.

Species Table:

The species table is only editable if you replace some of the entrys, the ones at the bottom do not display.
E.G.
If you put your entry in the middle, the entry at the bottom does not display in FS.

Ships Table:
Move the vasudans into the terran section, then make a sutable thruster ani for boath terrans and vasudans.
Now you can make a sutable thruster ani for your new species.

Compressing Table files in WordPad:

load a table file in to wordpad then in the menu goto replace:

now in the find section hold "Alt" and press "09", that is Acsii for tab.

next press the space bar in the replace section.

Thanks, Fozzy, but it's not actually  for a new species.  I'm intending to add new storyline info about the post-Capella aftermath, and on the new rebel faciton, the SCP.

It seems that the species.tbl also holds the techroom information, so I'll need to delete the Lucifer, entry, etc info to fit in 2/3 new entries..
