A complaint (split from WHIYL)
I like how a very vocal minority here loves to attack me at every turn, calling me a fascist and neo-Nazi. They think they're so high and mighty, because they let their feelings get in the way of rational thinking. My ideas are hardly extremist by any account, but you have made no effort to understand my views or even hear out what I have to say. Instead you throw strawman arguments and throw around your per-conceived notions of what you THINK I stand for. This may come as something of a shock to you, but your ideas don't make you a good person, your actions do. End of line.

Re: A complaint (split from WHIYL)
Nakura, while your posts are routinely shredded by pretty much every active member of Gendisc, and I can understand why this feels like hurtful persecution, please consider that you're dealing with a lot of very intelligent people, and that the fact that they disagree with you does not give you the right to personally attack them. You've been given ample room to describe and defend your opinions, and people have drawn reasonable conclusions from that dialogue.

Remember that on HLP, and I quote, "any attempts to belittle other forum members for not agreeing with you will be treated in much the same way as a direct personal attack." I believe your political views can quite reasonably be described as fascist, since you advocate hard state intervention in foreign territory: but I don't think you're Literally Hitler. Turning around and accusing your interlocutors themselves of being a 'vocal minority' (with the belittlement that implies), of being 'high and mighty', of 'letting their feelings get in the way of rational thinking' - these are all personal aspersions that attempt to short-circuit discussion by ascribing traits to your opponents instead of to their arguments. You're trying to disengage from the debate by suggesting that something's wrong with the debaters and right with you, that they cannot present substantial arguments because they themselves are inferior to you, the Rational Thinker.

You conclude by implying that your opponents are bad people: not that their arguments could be morally consequential but that they themselves act poorly. This reads like fundamental attribution error to me, but it's also poor conduct and a clear violation of the forum's guidelines.

Speaking of forum guidelines, this post clearly deserves a response by a moderator, and I apologize if I've stepped into that niche and committed backseat moderation. Review of GenDisc history (with a focus on MP-Ryan's posts) leads me to believe I'm in the clear, but I'm happy to discuss via PM if anyone disagrees.

Re: A complaint (split from WHIYL)
I don't have a problem with it.

I'm going to lock this for the moment, in lieu of further discussion, but Nakura, I strongly suggest you take Battuta's words to heart.  It is not an acceptable debate tactic here to directly attack your opponents instead of addressing their points.  You have already been banned from General Discussion once before, and unless you wish that to happen again, I would advise against making these sorts of comments in the future.
