Howdy all. A post in a recent thread regarding texture replacement and damage textures put me back in the mind of the old damage decals system. For those of you that have only been with the community a couple of years, many more years ago there was a prototype for damage decals in the code, which was buggy. It could only support a certain number of decals in the game environment at any one time, so old ones would disappear as new ones were created. I also recall that it was quite the memory leak. I was wondering if there are any plans to resurrect this feature (likely using an entirely different coding method), or what kinds of potholes might hamper its completion. I recall that the screen refresh-related aspects of slash beams could result in non-continuous scorch marks if low-refresh causes too much skipping across the target hull.
