Hello!
If my question was already asked (but i couldn't find it using the "search board" option) or i messed up the boards  - sorry.
I got my own, original copy of the first FreeSpace game, the polish release - if you guys want some pics i could upload them later ;D It is fully translated with cutscenes, voiceover etc. I'm wondering if there is any possibility to use the original files to change the FSPort language?

You can't really add Polish to FSPort without modifying a bunch of files, but you can help me add the translation. Keep in mind, however, that you will need to send about 1.5 GB of files. Here's what to do:

• Install FreeSpace. During installation, you will be asked what components to install. You must install everything.
• If you have the Polish version of Silent Threat, install it.
• Update FreeSpace to 1.06 using this patch: http://web.archive.org/web/20081016043011/http://www.pxo.net/files/fs10x-106rw.exe
• Update FreeSpace to 1.06eax using this patch: http://web.archive.org/web/20081016043011/http://www.pxo.net/files/fs106-106eax-row.exe
• In your FreeSpace folder, look for the following files and upload them to a file hosting site: cbanim.vp, freespace.vp, root.vp, and voc.vp.
• If you installed Silent Threat, then also upload mdisk.vp.
• Search your FreeSpace discs for the following files and upload them: ancients1.mve, ancients2.mve, ancients3.mve, ancients4.mve, ancients5.mve, commandbrief.mve, endgame.mve, hallfight.mve, intro.mve, and lab.mve. (They should be in data\movies.)
• Send me a private message with links to those files. (Do not post them in this topic.)

I can't guarantee that everything will be added, though I will do my best.

(By the way, does anyone know if Silent Threat was released in Polish?)

Yarn, are you sure the patches are for Polish FreeSpace? They might only work on English FreeSpace. Polish FreeSpace might have it's own patch.

I'm not sure, but I have a hunch.

Those are the "Rest of World" patches, which should be appropriate for the Polish version. (You can view the archived official FreeSpace downloads page here, which is where I found those patches.)

Yarn, are you sure about that? I mean the discs are not in the best condition so i made a backup few years ago. I got two .ISO files - CD1 and CD2, both of them weighs 1,3GB. If you insist i'll do what you said and upload only the files you want/need but will that be a problem if i'll upload the game istallation discs, the .ISO files and PM these to you?

Thanks! I'm waiting for Betrayal to send me data on the Polish version of FreeSpace 2 (thread here), so once I get that, I'll start adding the Polish translation to FSPort. In case Betrayal doesn't reply, do you also have the Polish version of FreeSpace 2?

(I turns out the patches weren't necessary since this version of FreeSpace is already at version 1.06 EAX.)

I guess it's almost impossible to get the polish version of FreeSpace 2. I mean the original copy. But i've found few torrents that should still work. Since you got the legal copy of the game i think it's not "a crime" to download the same just in other release?

I'd rather not resort to torrents. And a member here (Betrayal) said that he has the Polish version (well, the files at least). It's been only a few days since he told me, so hope is not lost.

Not using this kind of stuff either but i was searching for some alternatives. Found one that should be free from all of the possible issues and another option here but it requires to buy a transfer. If Betrayal fails we could think about that.
