And I haven't even TOUCHED shields yet. But I'm running out of time- if I don't get a successful conversion soon, I won't have time to build all the POF data before I go to college, and my lone contribution to the modeling world will shrivel up and die.

I'll go back to school soon, too, but I hope that won't mean I'll have to leave what I've done so far in a dark corner of my HD...

I heard that TS1 wouldn't work because it didn't save as a COB file... That true or have I been sitting on my ***  all this time for no reason?

How the heck do you guys make these models? I've got Truespace 1 and have tried gluing primatives together, but can't get anything worth bean.

How do you guys do it?

Yes, TS1 will NOT work saving as COB...but it seems to work, at least to some extent, saving as SCN. Kazan's PCS has both a COB2POF and a SCN2POF.

Personally, Blender.  It's prob. not as ood as 3dsMAX, buit it's free www.blender.nl

I struggled with TS2 hierachy for a while but It's not to hard with PCS as your converter.
create all your LOD objects call hull00 or whatever , up to hull03 & one called field
place a light in the center of each LOD object & the field.
Select a light.
glue as sibling to the apropriate LOD object.
name this Object as detailXX where XX is 01 for lod1, 02 for lod2 etc.
do the same for the field, call this group shield.
once you have all your object light combinations called  shield, detail01, detail02 detail03 and an obect without a light called hull0 you are ready to create the final group.
select hull0.
select glue as sibling.
click on the other objects in the order
        detail01
        detail02
        detail03
        shield.

this is not necessarily the only method that will work but it is one that should work.

I know how it works, but I can't make it to work, don't ask me why. Anyway, to be honest, making models is already time consuming enough, so I prefer to have some people to do that for me so I can spend all my time on the thing I really like: making models.

I've gotten that far on my own, but TS1 breaks down on me in a couple of places- specifically, names. For example, it won't let me name something detail1, it insists on naming it Detail,1. I've created LODs successfully, but I haven't been able to get thrusters to work...the hierarchy just won't fit together right. Are there any free drag-and-drop TS hierarchy editors availible for downoad?

Don't you have to name the lights too? as H_XXX? And what do you use as Hull00?

yeah, with TS1 I had the same pb (the detail,1 thinguy). Now I have TS5 (why are the viewports so dumb to use???). Still can't do anything to work. That's not the method: that's me. My TS is a smart one, he knows I'm using it and it doesn't like me, so it just wants to piss me off. (venom goes back home and takes his medicine)

no, all TS5 are pretty much like that.  You see, Truespace was originally developed for the niche maschiosist market.

In fact, TS1 is better at triangulating the finished model than TS5 IMO (at least it doesn't add new holes top the model)

By the way Aldo, you can do the model triangulation from within UVMapper as well without any problems.  No need to have to use TS for that either    (just press the 't' key in UVMapper)
