I don't see it...

Venom's ship's tail end has six "points" (three of what look like engines, and three of what look like fins). This X-Bomber ship you're talking about has the tail end of an "X"... like Star Wars X-Wings.

Also, the front end of Venom's is like a big head on the end of a neck... That X-Bomber, it's front swoops down, more like one of those steam rug cleaners (aka Stanley Steamer, etc).

If you ask me... I don't see any resemblence.

But... I do think that that X-Bomber ship could make a good looking fighter. Plus, from that link you put at the VBB, I think Volition has more explaining to do than Venom:
