Re: What are you listening to at the moment?
I'm looking for insane but technical, much like Deicide... 1349 is not like that, plus sometimes they have that annoying staticy scratchy backround production like in Burzum.

Children Of Bodom - Aces High (Iron Maiden cover)

Re: What are you listening to at the moment?
you could try zyklon, they have better production and are insane. black metal is seldom technical, usually played with a no frills solid body. when it is technical it usually classified as blackened death metal (zyklon fits here). death metal tends to be more technical and more bassy, growels instad of shrieks, more bass guitar, guitars are downtuned (black metal uses standard tuning). if you want death metal that has some of the atmosphereics that bm has one only has to look at the sweedish dm scene. i perfer black metal because is more atmosphereic, has better variety of lyrical themes, and tends to be classically inspired.

Re: What are you listening to at the moment?
Hmmm... whats the difference between Zyklon and Zyklon-B? Dont they both have former Emperor members or something?

And yeah i prefer black metal most of the time but only when the atmospheric-symphonic element is obvious, like in Samael's Passage or every Dimmu album... but I notice lots of good death metal with classical inspiration... Naglfar, for example.

Re: What are you listening to at the moment?
zyklon b is more like 1349 or burzum. infact there are several zyklons, you want this one http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=66 the only thing those bands have in common with emperor is sammoth. anyway if youre intrested in symphonic black metal, id suggest this band too http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=3242 and http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=1019

Aborted - the gangrenous epitaph

You might also want to check out some Behemoth or Belphegor stuff. And if it comes to technical death metal (rather than blackened death), you'd probably also like bands such as Necrophagist, Nile, Origin, some newer Cannibal corpse stuff, Hate eternal or Necronomicon.

Anyone heard of Gojira? Theyre an awesome French death metal band. I saw em live at a Children of Bodom show. Their latest CD, "From Mars to Sirius" is simply amazing and deals with topics like the environment and global warming.  :)

My Neighbors - Wailing Redneck Songs (accompanied by guitar)

It's freaking midnight and they're still going at it. The crappy way in which apartment building over here are built means that I can hear everything, even with my headphones on.

This is the kind of **** which makes normal people turn homocidal.

My new CD, Monteverdi's Vespro Della Beata Vergine. Probably shouldn't be ordering stuff right before Christmas but I couldn't help myself.
