Apologies to any and all who have taken offense at this, but it's not like America's the only country who lost citizens. And it's hardly as blatant as some of those 9/11 jokes... :doubt:

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

Congratulations.  For the first time in all my tenure of HLP membership, I have found that :wtf: is woefully and utterly insufficient to express my conviction that your words, on a deep and fundamental level, make absolutely no sense.  Non sequitur, mis-analogy, patent lack of historical understanding of 9/11 events, unjustified and irrelevant stereotyping, and the confused, confusing and disturbed implication that if astronauts did wear turbans this joke somehow would be funnier all combine to make this the single most :wtf:-inducing statement ever read on these forums.

So you decided whether to post this or not because it's not as "blatant" "as some of those 9/11 jokes" ??

I re-iterate:

Aww, boo-hoo, someone found a way to be offended. Get a life, seriously.

Not particularly funny- hell, the responses were funnier, but meh. If it weren't for the long training period and not being allowed to do drugs and ****, I'd be game for blasting myself into space with a few tons of high explosive, just for the experience. You get a T-shirt when you're done with it all?

But from what I've read from this individual before, I doubt it.

No - I found those funny as well. So did many other people around here. And it was for them that I posted this.

Indeed, some were funny. Others were just sick. And it isn't as if America hasn't killed its share of innocent people in its time.

The most amusing (if you can call it that) part of this all is that in terms of human lives, this hit Isreal harder than the US.  And it's an Isreali posting it. :p

So technically it should be NASA needs six additional astronauts.

Axem - Sorry to post again when I said I was leaving for good, but something was nagging me. I don't want to say it in a way that shames the campaign but I think we can all agree it is actually.. incomplete. It is missing... Voice Acting.

Okay, here we go with the columbia jokes.  This is being done in humour and not as an act of spike against the memory of Columbia and her crew.  If you find this topic offensive then don't read it, don't say I didn't warn you.

= = = = = = =

NASA officials searching for remnants of the space shuttle columbia found the black box early this morning.  While flight logs and telemtry data are still being analysed, it is believed that the cause of the crash has already been found after analysists heard the last moments of audio tranmissions recorded...  "Go on, let her have a drive.  What harm can it do?"

= = = = = = =

One of the searchers found a mangled penis hanging in a tree the other day, not far from a piece of columbia debris.  After extensive scientific analysis, NASA officials have concluded that is must be a shuttlecock.

/end rant...
