Forget about modeling, can I use TS for rendering?

And if I can... any good tutorials out there?

TS can be used for rendering (in fact I can't think of a better free renderer). It's no where near the league Lightwave or Max are in but I've seen some pretty decent results from it.

It appears that Caligari has stopped offering trueSpace 3.2 for download, and probably stopped supporting it period.:(  Unless somebody knows more about it, this thread can probably be unstuck and left to die.

I was just checking, and this thing is still available. You can get to it through this page:

Works okay for me, make sure you fill out the form as there is a serial number Caligari has to provide.

Speaking of Truespace, how the hell do you use it? I have to say it's probably the most frustrating and unintuitive program I've ever tried to use.

When you try to do something, e.g. turn a cube into a cuboid, it does something weird. I tried to do just that by dragging one of the faces, but instead of elongating the shape, it stretched it into a sort of reversed-perspective-shaped thingy, that I couldn't then put back to its original shape. It's very confusing and I'm a bit stuck.

There are no help files that come with it, only a bunch of animated video-type "tutorials" that move far too fast and are unpauseable!

Does anyone know any good tutorials for TS?

The only thing I used it for was texturing, and that was only version 4 because it had cubic UV maps. I guess if my old tutorial is still up it has truespace for texturing. It was on... you know... that site... that was for Freespace... uhhh...

Silly question, but might as well as ask as the topic's there.

Is there anywhere I can get Trueview from? Caligari dont seem to ahve it anymore, and a google search leads only to dead ends :(

Trueview should be included with truespace. You'll have to add it in as a plugin, it should be in the plugins directory. I forget where you go to add plug ins though.
