We could start a Macross mod...?

 
What about charging weapons like the Fusion Cannon from Descent or the Star Fox Charge Laser?  Is anyone planning to work on that?

I was thinking of having it work like this:

$Damage:         //damage dealt with "snap" shots

$MaxDamage:         //as name implies
               //uncapped if not specified

$DamageInterval:      //additional damage per boost
               //equal to $Damage if not specified
               //when adding is > than MaxDamage set to MaxDamage

$Energy Consumed:      //minimum energy for shot

$EnergyInterval:      //additional energy consumed per boost
               //equal to $Energy Consumed if unspecified

$ChargeInterval:      //delay between each successive
               //boost to weapon damage and
               //the energy consumed

(Any new flags will have to use WIF2 =(  Is there any reason why that would be bad?)
(Is there any way of doing this without adding more flags?)
(Anything I missed?)

If you click and release, it'll fire off a minimum damage shot.
Holding the button down will not fire a shot and will start the charge process.
An indicator for charging will have to be added.  Maybe the same way Evaded is displayed.
At maximum charge, it'll show Limit, but continue to drain energy.

It'll look better if some screen effect is added.  No idea what and how.

Is it possible to copy some code from the beam muzzle glow for a charge type weapon?

If someone codes electricity running over the player's ship (like when hit with EMP)
it would be pretty cool to have that effect when charging.

For now maybe the sound could be played only when a shot is released.

Also, maybe if this is coded, a different bitmap be displayed for a shot (i.e. larger one)
at higher charge levels.  Perhaps only set in fixed intervals evenly divided to avoid to
many more flags

This is just an idea.  I couldn't find anything in the SCP forum using the terms charge,
charging, and fusion.  Has this been discussed before?

Hold on a sec... RT is dead? When did this happen and why? I thought release 2 was comming with fully transformible veritechs and a real sdf-1!?!?!?!?!!!!?! Who has the direct info?\\

Also if the project IS dead are they just gonna scrap teh files they have so far or are they willing to let someone else pick up the banner and carry on??? (Steps forward to apply)...

Though I was thinking more of doing a Macross 7 mod (me and Basara have a duet) ;)

yes, it's dead, I have direct infos since I'm from the staff. there's various reasons to that, that I needn't explain. files will be put available for d/l as far as I know.

...ummm...sorry venom, but I don't think even that will be possible. There's too little activity, and too much to package.
I was thinking we could get some new staffers to continue the project, but that's just me.

BTW, we DO have an almost-complete SDF-1, and a re-transformable veritech, with a fully transformable veritech planned, but, well, read above.
