mind you, it could only get better from the first one eh?

In my experience, all artists who do sustained work eventually improve almost sheerly by virtue of practice. Everything you did before starts looking poorer and poorer. It's kinda encouraging, knowing that you'll improve in skill that much... just don't forget that you actually are improving
