I just love how the Vorlons planet killer is bigger than the SSD.  GO B5!

I think he based his DS2 size off the horizon measurement that people did when the SSD Executor crashed into the DS2 hull - the curvature of the horizon (or lack thereof - I forget) made the supposed 160km diameter waaaay too small IIRC.

which is pretty laughable when you know they used the exact same plan to calculate the size of the SSD. both screwed up :P
it's inconsistency in the movie, that's all.

Which makes it even more ****ed up to try and go by judging stuff 'to scale'. 17 km Exec. still pisses me off.

Actually, no.  The simplest way of judging sizes is comparing the bridge towers.

Eh, why?  Because the '11 time ISD' version fits the model?

i'm surprised they didn;t add a orion in there.. i mean, other than a sath, the orions have to be the most recoginisable ship in the FS series.

hmm, sath vs titan.... heh, on creates planets while the other (with all it's friends) completely obliterates the system

Meaning what? The SSD is 11 times the ISD (11x1.6km=16km), a size which is born out by bridge size comparisons, as Shrike said, and other filmiometrical (I think I just invented a word) calculations.

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

what? I said people used that plan to scale the SSD too. so that's stupid. and you don't need to explain all that to me, the ssd is a subject that comes often in the "Venom/Killmenow's Daily Argument" :p

well, the only measurment we know about the nostromo is it's weight ( under earth gravity I suppose... ). No stats known to the sulacco, afaik ( but I admit I've never searched for it ).
still, there's a lot of ships missing in there ( the guy is obviously more a ST freak than a SW geek :p ) but that's quite some work you gotta admit :)

yes, and has to be the biggest damn unarmedship i have ever seen....

by unarmed i mean by having no actual weapons of it's own, not the smegheads wielding enough weaponry (and stupidity) to vaporise a small planet

The Dwarf was six miles long, and had its own metro system. While I'm here, somebody make a Starbug for FS2 when they've a spare five minutes...
