Okay, I've got a problem people and I need help:

When trying to burn an Audio CD my burner always stops at 65%.... always 65 - no matter how long the tracks are or how many, or brand of CD-R.
Data CDs are no problem, just Audio CDs.

Got a Sony 48/24/48 CDRW, and BHA Recorder Gold5.

It's because you are a pirate sir. What (if any) error messages are you getting?
What frequency are you getting? Is it noise or sweet sweet music? - Refused - Liberation Frequency.

Try dfferent burning software, a reinstall of the software you have (after a full uninstall) or worse case scenario, a reinstall of windows. It's a strange thing though, never really come across this kind of problem before.

why is it that all the "pros" always say "format your hard drive" or "reinstall windows"!?  that's not the way of fixing a problem, that's the way of being lazy and a n00b and 'getting around' the problem

I said as a worse case scenario, where did I ever say I was a pro? I personally only do a reinstall if I absolutely have to and no other time because it's a huge pain in the arse. Personally to me it sounds like a problem with the ASPI drivers, which a complete uninstall and reinstall of the CD burning software should sort it out.

Did you check Sony Support?   They've got a drive diagnostic test available.  Maybe you need a firmware update.

i'm not talking directly at you, your comment just brought that subject to mind... i was talking to everyone.

of COURSE a format will do the trick for ANYTHING... but that's not help, that's known.  when all else fails, and you can't fix a problem, then format or low-level or something dramatic... until that time, there's always (usually) a solution

Yes, like using Nero instead, or something.

What speed are you trying to record at?

Try a lower speed.  So what if it means that the disc will be done in 6 minutes instead of 4, who cares?

Seriously though,

Patch the burning software.
update windows
update drivers
turn off extraneous stuff(IM programs, ect)
don't touch the machine while the disc is being processed, go get a cup of coffee or go enjoy the out of doors. :eek2:

Come of people this stuff is standard, why does everybody keep doing stuff like leaving Messenger running in the background?
So as through a glass, and darkly
The age long strife I see
Where I fought in many guises,
Many names, but always me.

There are only 10 types of people in the world , those that understand binary and those that don't.
