here, a kitbashed POS, made out of various part from the FS1 terran support ship (what's it called). the model is very bad, since during the cutting apart the geonomotry went bad. this isn't my first attempt at truespace, but it's the first timne i actaully produced something.

i know, it's terribelle.

i'll post screenies in a few minutes.

Meh, could be worse.
Could be much better, but it could be worse.

Better than a lot of my attempts, anyway.

Not as bad as you think, it looks to be an universal support ship, which can dock with four fighters at once.

They'd have to be pretty damn small fighters.

What makes you think kasperl won't enlarge it? It is yet small, that true.

Wahey! A 'roided Centaur!

What about chopping off the cockpit and engines, and sticking the ends of a Fenris on instead? You'd have to alter it a bit, of course, but you could get a nice Tanker model out of that. Then just stick on a crew section (possibly a chunk off the Hippocrates), and you've got a good civilian vessel to use in your campaigns. :)

Or not. Ignore me if this is a stupid idea....:nervous:

well, one thing is for sure, you'll never get this ingame, the internal geomotrey is completely wierd.

i am going to try to make this:

a Heavy Patrol Vehicle, no fighter, no bomber, no cruiser, but something in between. it's made to patrol the remote regions, where a cruiser is to costly, and a wing of fighters would need to return to base to often.
it will stay in space for weeks, if not months, and it would require a support ship for food every 5 days, and weapons every 2 days, depending on how much combat there is.

they carry a large variaty in weapons, but only 3 sets of primarys and 4 sets of secondaries can be reached quickly, the other, up to 10 secondarys and 8 primarys take up to 5 minutes to apply.

it's bank capacity is big, a primary configuration of 2-4-4 and secondary 500 tempests each. also, there are three manned turrets, each equipt with two fighter primary's. the engine mostly consists out of a bunch of old fighter reactors, one for weapons, one for movement, and one for shields. also, her engine is made out of multiple old parts.

she carry's between 5 and 11 crewmembers, the latter being the max capacity, if she's being used as a transport/escape pod. 5 men is the minimum, a pilot, copilot, 3 gunners. on normal flights, there is also an engineer present. on board facility's are minimal, one shower, one toilet, 5 bunks in one room, and a small galley with a microwave like thing. in case more than 5 people have to rest at once, all seats are reclinable, so that a pilot can sleep, and still take over controll by just waking up and straitening his seat.

all of these ships are kitbashed from retired fighters, so almost all are different. a general design is used, and all have about the same capability's.

here she is, a top view:

I get it, your planing on using bits of fighters to create a range of long range patrol vessels.

I'd be careful about which parts I'd use though, otherwise you might end up with a 'Frankiestein Fleet', a collection of ugly craft that one wants to fly... otherwise, go for it!

AS for the Centaur kitbash, it's not bad, the only bit that lets it down is the cockpit.  If your going to have it 100m long, I feel that you should replace the nose with some thing else, not sure what ATM.
...There ought to be something surreal about a Zoid offering romantic advice...and yet there is not. It seems perfectly normal that the Liger is giving Bit advice on relationships, and it shouldn't, but it does. Dangit man, you've confused me again.[/I]

yeah, that's the main problem, but there not supposed to be pretty, there supposed to be cheap, be somewhat spaceworhty and to kill things.

i think if i just make a basic hull, and play around with textures and submodels a bit, i'll get there. the only problem is that i can't find some tools in TS.

if anyone here uses TS5, where do i find a tool wich lets me seperate a partn of a model from the rest, by erasing the lines between polys?

and why is it that when i use PCS on a Medusa, i see lot's of planes that don't appear in Modelview? suddenly there are untextured planes between the weapon pods, the tail and the nose. and the geomotry of the weapon pods looks very, very wierd.

if you texture the sides to be missile racks, you could have this crazy "desperation bomber", it closes in on an enemy capship, then releases a volley of X number of unguided bombs to his side.
