Bah, that's everywhere. $200,000 for some tiny little townhome out where I live, I keep trying to move and sell the property for a ridiculous amount of money, but for one thing there's all these damn principles and hatred of gluttonous development and all... ah, **** it.

My wife is from Adelaide. I have family in Newcastle, as well. :)

I know all about the cost of real estate. Its heinous--especially since we'd like to live in the city (Sydney, specifically. I work for Cisco right now and they have a campus there)! We're barely going to be able to afford whoop-whoop. :(

The exchange rate sucks ASS right now though. I've been putting money in my investments in Oz for about three years. For the longest time, we had an exchange rate of .51. Every dollar we put in the bank was doubled instantly. Suddenly, however, the rate seems to have shot up clost to .71 and all of a sudden, the money isn't doubling when it hits the bank. :(

All that said, by the time we move back, 'round Christmas time next year, we should have enough saved up for a car and a painfully large house deposit--even if it is in whoop whoop.

On the other hand, I'll be able to spend Christmas on the beach, tanning. ;)

Cisco eh? so you've got CCSE qualifications huh?
tried it once.. (MCSE as well i might add) let's just say, that most of my artistic talent (as well as foxfire) was born from those classes..:p

moving to sydney eh? i reckon Steak and JFK would probably visit you just to torment you;)

yeah, exchange rates suck...(so does a vast majority of australian TV i.e "Big Brother":doubt: )

Devonport's gonna be some sort of 'boom town' if we can secure a THIRD ferry from sydney to devonport,(they're hoping to berth it in darling harbour)

small roads, lots of tourists:shaking:

Note(for all those who don't know): "Big Brother" is an australian reality tv show (how orginal:doubt: ) with about 16 morons stuck in a house for a number of weeks, with practically camera's in every crack and crevace of the building...

billy connely(sp?) said it best about this show: "a bunch of people sitting in a house, watching a bunch of people, sitting in a house"

this is probably why i own a computer, there's no such thing as 'quality entertainment' on television anymore...

i mean, here 'Enterprise' has a 1 o'clock timeslot..(AM) most of the prime-time slots are taken up by either reality tv, or lifestyle proggies...

at least SBS(and ABC) exists, or i would have thrown my tv out years ago...

do not torment the sleep deprived artist, he may be vicious when cornered,
in case of emergency, administer caffeine to the artist,
he will become docile after that,
and less likely to stab you in the eye with a mechanical pencil

yeah, I follow the scores every now and then; my dad is a total cricket junkie (he is from India, where it is very popular), so he got me a bit into it. :D That's about the only sport I follow, aside from computer game rankings. :D

Dear god, cricket is the most boring thing I've ever seen in my life. Paint drying comes close, but sometimes a bug gets trapped in the paint, and you're treated to a life-or-death spectacle. Cricket, on the other hand, is like watching a brick sink in a tub. It starts, it finishes, and not much else happens. ;)

Now, AFL (go Crows! ;) ) and rugby... now those are sports. :)

I think that's true with the test matches, which go on for five days time and end up with no result half the time, but the 50-over ODIs are just great.

 I dunno about KK, but Dunkin Donuts came to Israel a few years back. They've now disappeared - went bankrupt, I guess - just like Starbucks. :D

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

Cricket: Yes! Cricket rules! CP, have you heard about the new 20/20 matches? 20 overs a piece, it's over in three hours. Great stuff. :)

Starbucks: Ack! My poor local shopping centre got invaded by two of the damn things... it's ridiculous!

Starbucks is pure evil, simply because I despise all this coffee culture.

£2 for some vile liquid in a thimble with a handle on.

Yeah, I checked the nutritional details (on the bottom of the box, so you can't check until you've finished eating) - 5.0g of fat for a single creme donut! Luckily I'm pretty thin. :D
