Hey, well firstly...

School is out for summer! I had my last exam yesterday morning

and secondly, when I got home from my exam, my dad said "I know you really tried hard at your exams, so me and mum decided to get you something.."

That somethings turns out to be a P4 2.4Ghz beast, with a gig of DDDR RAM (Yes, 3 Ds!), ATI Radion 9500 graphics card, 180 GB hard drive.. and a damn smooth, shiny black case with a blue LED for power. :D

This is a step up from my last computer, which was a Celeron 400 with 256MB DDR RAM and a Gmax 400 card. I just made a mission to test this thing out, with about a dozen capital ships and a good forty+ fighters in mission... it ran completely smoothly... faster than a much smaller mission on my old computer would have run infact.... :D

I just can't wait to try out Half-life 2 on this thing. :D

Did anyone else get any rewards for finishing exams? And what sort of computer specs does everyone have?

I won't be doing exams for a few years, but I did get a "oh, you graduated from the making-mindless-workers institution" certificate sort of thing for graduation from my level of school.

And both my comps are sucking, my main comp's a p3 450 mhz with 352 ram + Geforce 2 GTS and the other's an older laptop. There're 3 computers in the house that perform better and they're nice (1.7g p4, 2 g p4 laptop and a 2.53g p4).

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

are you kidding, I make, maybe, $12,000 a year, my parents are devorceing and the famly is about $100,000 in debt, I worked hard and saved up for three years to get this, the only thing I spent anything on was the stereo wich is a sony str-DE675 (wich now that I look at it is actualy 500W, though I only get 200 (100 X 2) @ 8ohm the way I have it set up, wich is equivelent to 400 @ 4ohm), useing a speaker system that I put together by hand (well half of it), and a TV that I have had for about seven years (a daewoo and now that I look at it it's only 17", but I might swich it for the one in my little brother's room becase he never uses it and it's bigger, and there is a long sad story about why that tv is in his room), you will note that in those specs there is no dvd or cd drive, I had to cut back somewere and the current computer has one too many

I got sod all when I finished my exams last Friday morning, and I had to go to work in the afternoon.
I'd better get something when my results come in, or they will rue the day!

Thanks for the thought :),
But in all honesty they had better not, specifically my mom had better not let my narcissistic bustard of a dad back, he cheated on her twice in one year (second time was while they were in counseling from the first), though considering he was doing it for five years before that (and making everyone else's lives a living hell due to his constant accusations, and tantrums every time she went on a business trip) and it was the same woman it really should be just considered one continuous cheat.
BTW, this reminds me, if ever something weird should happen to me and/or my family let me just state for future reference that my dad seems to be going psycho.
