Besides some one touch light and object editors, there's the Special Projection Engine:

"I have implemented a new custom raytracer inside Lightwave Pixel Filter Plugins to rasterize images with my own rules. As result actually there is two new projection types: ORTHOGONAL AND SPHERICAL PROJECTIONS."

How insane do you have to be to rewrite the rasteriser inside the Pixel Filter space?
