It's funny how a law is turned against consumers after about 3 years of p2p, yet the monopoly laws and the price fixing laws STILL have not been applied to these companies after nearly 10 :)

Warez = Theft
RIAA = Monopoly

Both are illegal.

So the RIAA have no business telling me what I can and cannot do.

People in glass houses should shut the fuck up.

Technically, the RIAA is a "trust", not a monopoly. Just as illegal, but these things matter.

And the law always favors those who have property above those who don't. The RIAA is richer than music downloaders. Hence, they are more equal, under the eyes of the law, than the people. Welcome to America, leave your sense of morality and all passions not directly related to money at the door.

Well, we are a little bit better off here in the UK, because our trading standards (the ones who said nope to Microsoft for yearly subscription to Windows XP) are still on the side of the public to a large degree, while they obviously do not condone warez, they do agree that Computer and Music manufacturers ought to be investigated by the Monopolies Commision. I believe the current stance is that anyone caught downloading warez will be prosecuted, but the chances are that the case would never get taken to court, there are still far too many grey areas and questions about the morals of the 'injured' party.

Yes, and wasn't there some smack laid down over price fixing of CDs over here a few years back?

Yep, though the record companies simply chose to ignore the ruling. Also the mobile phone companies 'amzaing new deals' are a result of being found guilty of price fixing, also several major football clubs are being taken to court over price fixing. It's only a matter of time......

The whole thing with 3 and the mobile tariffs just shows how much the phone prices were fixed.

3 undercut the competition by like 50% and all of a sudden the rest of the rabble start dropping prices. They've had the capacity to undercut each other for years but were reluctant to do it because it'd start a price war. Then 3 came along and was like "Hmmm. **** this" and screwed them all.

Thing is with 3 is that it's a completely different system, it uses a 3G network system for faster data transfer as opposed to the GPRS system that the other three networks are using. I might get me one of those videophones just for the fun I could have with it.
What frequency are you getting? Is it noise or sweet sweet music? - Refused - Liberation Frequency.

I wouldn't bother. My housemate had one for two weeks - he was so proud of it until he realised that no-one else he knew had one. Rendering it basically just a phone.

What's the point of videophones, anyway? It's bad enough to have to talk to people you're staying a few miles away from for a reason- do you really want to look at them as well?

Hell, half the time I'm on the phone (about half an hour per month, I can't abide the ****ing impersonal noisy things) I'm not wearing anything. Do I really want a videophone? Do any of my guy friends?
