That doesn't attach itself to the taskbar the same way the WMP toolbar does (Can it be auto-hidden, I can't remember and you didn't tell me when I asked last?) and it still doesn't address the issue of Winamps attrocious video playback.

You're using Windows XP, right? Never used it myself, so I don't know how WMPs attaching itself to the taskbar - mind a slightly wider screenshot?

As for WinAmp's video playback... That's what I used to think of WA versions in the 2.7x range and prior - the latest version(s) play as smooth, if not smoother (due to lack of overhead resource consumption) than, Windows Media Player 6.4, let alone v9.

And instead of trying to figure out how to make us comprehend what you're wanting from a media player down to the most minute detail, why don't you download and install the latest WinAmp version 2.x - not version 3 - and try for yourself? It doesn't take over your system like RealPlayer, MusicMatch, and all that other crap (*ahem*). You can uninstall it if you don't like it, and leave your computer none the worse for wear.

Go ahead - you know you ought to. ;)

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

The Super Mario World skin I used to have. It's gone AWOL. Oh, and some Johnny Cash to play on the damn thing

Last post on the page. I've never tried it on 2000 so I don't know if it works on that POS OS but I tried it out on a 98 box (not one of mine, naturally) and the toolbar wasn't even an option.

I've used, uninstalled and washed my hands of Winamp, both versions 2.x and 3 because WMP has matured to the point that I no longer need it. I'm saving more resources using only one player than I ever could with two and in a couple more months resource consumption won't be a problem at all, with 1Gb RAM I'd imagine you'd tend not to worry about how much RAM your programs were taking up. If you're that worried about resource consumption, I suggest you get more RAM too, it's not exactly expensive at the moment.

$80 isn't cheap unless you're talking cars or cocaine.
