that is what i call a sexy fish - when fanned out like that he's the size of my palm! he's not the best quality one i have either

*has a chinese fighting fish named sam

feel sorry for him though. He lives in a plant vase.. has like 5^3 inches to live in.

is there something special about fertile catfish?

all Siamese Fighting Fish (Betta Splendens) are anal and very teritorial - if you didn't recognize the above fish - that IS a Siamese Fighting Fish

if there is a peace lilly or something non-aqautic in there remove it immediately - figure out the volume of the vase - divide it by 231 cubic inches - that is the volume of a gallon of water

if the betta is in 1 gallon of water it needs one 100% water change weekly (or more prefably two 50% water changes in a week)

if it's in 1/2 gallon it needs two 100% water changes weekly

if it's in 2 gallones it needs one 50% water change weekly

get the idea?

It's just got a plant, some flowers or something, nothing bad though as it seems. Luckily for me, mom takes care of the water changes, which I think she does about twice a week or so.

Fertile catfish are special!!!!

They are so horny. Even tapping the glass sends them into a parthenogenic egglaying frenzy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the pb with those ( otherwise beautiful ) fishes is that if you put them together with other fishes, after a while, the... her... fins tends to be all worn out, and they look like floating trash...

(only the males have the huge fins)

I raised red bettas for a couple of weeks. They were nice, but my cat ate them.

the "sexy" is a joke

but it is a nice fish. and valuable to boot... and it's offspring should be valuable
