Just wondering if its possible, if somebody removed the invisible walls from the Hecate and Orion destroyers, if a trigger could be made to land into the fighterbay to end the mission instead of entering subspace. I think it would be interesting.

I think thats how ill end my missions from now on... more in-game way of doing it. Now is there a way to start a mission taking off like the lokis take off the Repulse? Thats how id like my missions to start :)

EDIT: Typing in the IF command exits FRED and causes an error. How do i get the If command there without crashing it?

You don't - Rah meant When... I hope.

BTW, you'll need to be using FRED open and FS2 open for this to work, and it doesn't work eith the Hecate, at least, not for me.

I sense much confusion here.

Rah had the right idea but he's used the wrong logic for the SEXP's. This is better

EDIT : DS9er you never need to type in SEXP names when using FS2_open so if you ever see a SEXP that you can't find on the pop up menu it's cause someone spelt it wrong :D

Point the wing editor at Alpha wing. In the arrival box, select 'Docking Bay' and then select an appropriate launch platform, such as a carrier. Just be aware that some destroyers, namely as the Hecate, will launch you right at part of their hull so DIVE DIVE DIVE!

i made a test mission of it. But i manually stuck the fighter into the Orion Docking Bay. Then i made a message "Alpha you are cleared to take off".. it was pretty cool. Now ill try the landing. :)

EDIT: I have FS2_open but i dont have FRED2 Open... could somebody be so kind...

Ah, but if you use the Ship/Wing editor to launch from an Orion, Alpah 1 (or the player) will colide with the invisible wall of the Orion... Leaving you trapped...

No.  The wall only works one-way.  You can fly out, but not in.

Do the invisible faces work both ways?  Because when you fly into a ship normally (if there is a hole or a bad plane or something) you can fly out through any surface, no matter how stable it is from the outside.  I'm not sure if invisible faces are treated as one-sided as the rest of the faces are, or if they are 2 sided and thus an obstacle in both directions.

Nevermind, Goober answered my question.

I distinctly remember it being impossible to go through, since i had rigged the mission so you would selfdestruct if you used cheats, but i needed the `C one to get out and i wondered why i didn't explode.

I just tried it and its possible to go out.. not in. But what i want to do is make a distance thing where you need to get very close to the fighterbay to end, but the trigger will only work if the mission objectives are done.

Someone needs to do the walkthrough.

Just have an event with

when
and
is-event-complete
Objective1
is-event-complete
Objective2
is-event-complete
Objective3
distance
<
Alpha1
Carrier Hanger Bay
50
end-mission

You have an an event which returns true when each objective is complete, i.e 1 2 and 3 in this example, and when those are all true AND the player is less than 50m from the hanger, the misison ends. Do the walkthrough.
