Well, if daylight saving didn't kick in, you would wake up after there many hours of sunlight had passed - you'd miss all that without daylight saving. :)

solution to it all: adjust the time to between summer and winter time.

So now that we've got the winter time, can we just stick with it?
I'm damned if I'm losing an hour of sleep next spring.

Well, come next spring I'm not changing. So I'll be an hour out of sync, but I don't care.

I knew that at least once my father was working the nightshift the day you had to change the time back one hour. so basically, he had to work that extra hour for free.

Problem with that is that you'll be half an hour early or half an hour late for months. If you decide to compensate by leaving half an hour early to catch trains, buses, meetings, then you'll be effectively running on everyone else's time anyway. :p

heh, almost happened to me, I was done at 11PM. The hour changed happened at 12PM, wich jumped the hour back to 11. The dude who made the time shift worked one more hour, but I doubt he was not paid for it.

yes, so that's why we all must do it. eventually everyone will do it, and we can all take the credit for it.

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill
