****ed-up people happen. Torturing them, stoning them, or setting the remainder of their families on fire isn't going to do much to stop them being nutty, or discourage other people from being insane. Deal with it. Yeah, sure, the whole lynch-mob spiel with the self-righteous anger and momentarily justified sadism is kinda fun, I guess, but it's pretty impractical, and that's really the way bad situations get worse- hell, look at our foreign policy. Same deal.
Honestly, this particular situation isn't really the business of anyone here. It's a community remote from us, and people we don't know aside from in the most abstract- passing judgement on them seems a little... self-important, doesn't it? Thinking about the situation, taking measures to prevent similar situations occurring, locally or even (possibly) worldwide seems like it'd be an intelligent thing to do in response to this sort of thing; calling someone you don't know names because you heard a vaguely-worded, poorly informed news snippet about them is pretty weak.
Besides which, it's more fun to call people you do know names.
