Zelda is not a platform seller.

Metroid is a platform seller.

I hated pre GC Metroid. I liked Zelda though. "POV" basically.

I don't think neither MS or Sony are overly concerned about what Nintendo does nowadays.

Is Nintendo the next Sega ? :doubt:

By the way, the new console from APEX is supposed to run PC games. It has embedded Windows XP configured to supposedly allows you to use the OS for different things. Is this trend of making consoles like PC going to continue? Personally, I think it defeats the point of a console (cheap, easy (to set up), relatively bug-free gaming).

Consoles have the advantage of being a stable development environment - there's no need to worry about changing standards, how to support IO, etc - makes technological testing a LOT simpler.

I reckon the use of Pc architecture is simply to try and get as many cross platform titles as possible... bear in mind, though, that a lot of the common Pc problems are software, not hardware related.   Goes back to that 'stable development platform' thing... no need to have drivers, for example, as your - eg- IO devices can be set to a strict type and format.

Wait wait...Nintendo has a new console for this years lineup? I didn't believe that was going to happen...maybe late 2005.  Certainly not 2004.

Well put.

Or just borrow them/it from your friend and have your way with Zelda, then return it to him a year or so later. :)

You know, I'd buy a game cube if the games were not as costy as the Xbox ones.

I knew Ninty would have a new console out soonish, ever since I saw the specs for the GC... it's very much a short-term console (established tech, efficiency & price over power, attempts to make development simple as possible).  The delays releasing the N64 vs the PS1 and the GC vs the PS2 are probably the main reason Nintendo's underachieved so much, IMHO.
