I don't think they can damage the SCP - they were presumably OK with the SC release in the first place, and what we've done to it after that was pretty mush our business. What they can do is mess wth the HotU download that has apparently been responsible for the slow but steady influx of newbies of late, and possibly the help gamespy was going to be giving us, though I'm not really sure on that - depends on exactly what they were going to be doing...

BW is right, as far as i can see. but, has anyone actually seen anything of this outside this email? we have had other Interplay emails stating that they don't own the rights, as has been mentioned above. conflicting Helldesk geeks aren;t new, so i'd say wait and see.

I think that what annoys me is they leave us to drum up new interest in FS2 etc, and then try to cash in on it.

I'm not sure how seriously that tech help guy can be taken anyway. I would at least expect these guys to have proper grammar in their emails. And Interplay has said in the past that they don't own the FS copyrights anymore, so how are they supposed to do this even if they wanted to? Sorry if I am cynical, but this whole thing reeks of a hoax.

Anyone try to figure out on why they're re-releasing it?  If the game has stopped being printed years ago and suddenly comes back, doesn't that tell you that maybe something might be in the works in the future?

It's just like when a sequel of a movie is about to come out.  They show the original movie on cable in every possible channel at every possible hour.

I'm not saying FS3 is coming out or anything, so don't rape me (well, maybe if you feed me grapes and touch me.... right there) but it seems a little strange to me that they'd re-release it just for the whim of it.  I doubt they think they'd make a huge profit for just 2k games, even if they sold it for 50 beans.

Anyway, Interplay CAN'T do ANYTHING to us cause they don't own the liscence! Remember that biiiigggg discussion we had awhile back about that? If this is true, then we have reason to believe that THAT was true, too. So, they CAN'T blast us with copywrite infrigment, cause they don't HAVE it.
And they CAN'T take the SCP and use it cause ANY program with open-source code in it becomes open-source, according to U.S. Law (and Intercrap is a U.S. based company, is it not?)
