Ideally I'd like to have things from Norse, Egyptian, Greek, Roman and Aztec/Mayan to give a nice range of ideologies and abilities, but there's the geographical and temporal aspects to consider.

And as for style, I'd say dark-egyptian. Think "How would Anubis decorate his temple?".
