I got this while on the FreeSpace Universal Reference project reading about the Unification war an I thought what if there was a campaign about it?  I thought it would be a good idea but I can't do it right now what with my campaign and the fact that it needs lots of modelling and I can't actually model in Belnder or Truespace.  But if anyone's run out of ideas for a new project.

Make sure you have a good plot, where the good guys aren't really the good guys and the bad guys are worse, so you join with some rebel faction and beat down everyone (singlehandedly of course, gotta keep with the Freespace mood) and then everyone gets owned by shivans and you run away and blow something important up to stop the shivans

NEVER EVER set a date like this. Now something's bound to happen that slows us down in mid-work. Will it be a spontaneous heart attack? a harddrive crash? who knows.

But every time i've heard things like 'it will be out in XXXX' the project has fallen inactive and was ever since never heard of again

What about optimistic goals?

What I was originally thinking of was pre-GTA etc.  Earth would obviously not be united.  As for factions I have a few ideas, stuff like: European Alliance, Eastern Coalition, South American Co-operation etc

erm, we are only authorized to send in a destroyer and a few fighters to do the task, 6 wings is all i am allowed to use according to budget program 34C subsection 6 paragraph 3. More force would require a direct warrant from a full commision.

In our campaign, Earth has a single government - just to make things simpler.  The 158th is doing something similar to this, though, with separate Earth factions - you may want to check them out.

We are pre-GTA but at the very end of the pre-GTA 'empire'. The people will have formed up to several factions (Earth + Earths former colonies).

Trust me when I say our setting is a very solid, and good base.

Anyway, I expect the weapons should be either projectile weapons accelerated at a high speed from a gas explosion (i.e guns) or what I like to call 'true lasers' as in proper laser weapons as in the intense focused ray of coloured light (think fighter beams).
