If anybody gets through to Interplay, remember, you're a representative of Microsoft or some other big-name game company. If you tell them you're from some forum run by kids who obviously won't have any money, they'll hang up immediately. Tell them that your company is looking into the possibility of developing a space sim and would preferably like to license one rather than create a whole new universe. Your company has been looking at a number of licensing possibilities, such as Wing Commander or Independence War or whatnot, and the FreeSpace name came up. Ask for a price for acquiring the rights to FreeSpace, but before they answer, make sure to note that the FreeSpace name is not very valuable considering that the games never sold many copies. Your company probably wouldn't be willing to pay more than $100-150 grand [you want to drive down the value of buying the rights if possible].
