I wasn't around for the original Transformers (too young), though I do remember a few episodes here and there from my childhood. The Dreamwave series of Transformers comic-books has done quite a bit to rectify my lack of knowledge about the original Transformers.
However, I vividly remember BeastWars, and I also remmeber that the polotline was just flat out cool. Especially in the latter seasons, with the introduction of the aliens, the Ark and whatnot. Unfortunately, this is just about the time I stopped watching, but I'll make a point of getting the whole series on DVD as soon as possible.
Don't any of you get all puritan on my and pull a "well that not the REAL tranformers". It was good for what it was, a semi-independent series that drew upon a familiar mythos and cast it in a new light.
As for yet another WWII film, doesn't anyone find that its getting kind of boring? I mean, we have half a dozen movies and more games than I can count, all with the exact same angle. Its more or less the same story, except that when its happening in Normandy, its called Band of Brothers or Saving Private Ryan, when its happening in Somalia its called Black Hawk Down, and when its happening in Vietnam its called We Were Soldiers. When is there going to be a fresh angle on the story, such as has not been seen since Apocolypse Now or, to a degree, Full Metal Jacket. I'm tired of having phony patriotism spoon-fed to me.
