I've said this before. There should be two olympics. A normal one and a drug assisted one. That way there is none of this whining about "It was in the cough medicine I took" etc. IF you're found with drugs in your system you have to compete in the drug assisted one. No excuses.

I for one would mind this as by next olympics you'd be seeing people running the 100m in 5 seconds :D

The Olympics just need to get with the times and recognise the reality that most of the (successful) competitors are doped up to the eye balls. On the other hand they do seem to have brought themselves up to date regarding corporate childishness. Which is to be commended.
Be warned: This site's admins stole 100s of hours of my work. They will do it to you.

Pfeh, if there was any doubt about favour trading in the IOC then this puts on the concrete shoes and tosses it off the nearest cliff.

I'm all for introducing the wacky olympics, where the athletes (read : pincushions) are allowed to dope themselves up to the eyeballs with whatver kerayzee concoctions they can find

i read somewhere that in the original olympics, 'peace and brotherhood and all that stuff' wasn't one of the important things. the important thing was to be the winner, and everyone else were losers, and so the athletes did whatever they could to be the winner. including cheat, bribe, blackmail- whatever works. so i don't think it's too different with all the drug stuff happening now.

There was a traditional truce that took place over the games, though.

Albeit a fair few of the 'sports' themselves were lethal.....

Or chariot racing.  People don't realize just how lethal that sport can be.

Actually the whole truce thing was no more true then than it is today.  There's even records that show an invading army actually taking the field in which the games were held, with the spectators critiquing soldiers' combat techniques from the sidelines.
