The masses don't effect a change, they just **** around until someone convinces them they got what they wanted.

Look at the War On Terror. People wanted to **** Al Qaeda, so they *****ed about it, then they got swung around to '**** Iraq' because it suited the governments aims better.

While I love a lively debate as much as the next man, this thread is intended to be a "moment-o-silence" thing, I believe. Take the AIDS debates to another thread, please.

Why?

It'd make more sense for the "Moment's Silence" people to move now.

And, like voting, non-participation implies endorsement of the winning side (which, in a one-sided thread, would be the 'they deserve respect' people), which is unacceptable.

One day, Shrike or Thunder will get drunk and wander onto IRC. We'll get chatting, I'll lure them in like some cheap bar-whore with sweet words and pleasant conversation; "I could fix things" I'll say; "I'll be good, I promise" I'll lie. Then, in the dead of the Israeli night, while you lay sound asleep in some tent on Palestinian land lamenting your lack of a net connection - BAM! You're ass is de-admin'd and my reign of terror begins.
