Two French journalists who were held hostage by Islamic militants in Iraq for four months were freed on Tuesday, prompting relief and joy in a nation that was deeply shaken by their kidnapping.

I think it would be too much to hope that they won't bear scars, emotional as well as physical, of their lenghty stay as hostage, but I'm happy nonetheless for them and their family, who'll soon have them back.
Though the question stiil stay : Who kidnapped them ? We know why, but as far as I know, we're not sure of who did this. And I'd also like to know how their liberation was done...

It was probably one of the groups who are doing it for money. I can't really see one of the ideological groups doing it.

Ah.... this was where they kidnapped those guys, realised they were French (who opposed the war), and then sort of ran out of ideas what to claim as ideological ransom - isn't it?

Yup. They also got yelled at by nearly every islamist group you can find nowadays for doing this, by the way.
