I didn't make that out when reading the post initially. ;)

So, you're making the Vega Engagement in the Homeworld engine, huh? Interesting. :drevil:

well really our mod is going to cover everything from the T-V war all the way to post FS 2. We have Ransom Arceihen as our main story writer, who has all ready produced a great story for the T-V war period. All ready we have most of the models of ships that are in FS 1 in game. The Vega engagment, not to mention other such historic battles are bound to make there way into our mod.

Well, first you need THIS, then  THIS.  Extract all necessary files from the first zip, then extract the pof file from the second zip and replace the one extracted form the first zip, with it.  Then, if you want to use it as a drop-in replacement for the standard Aeolus, either rename it to match the Aeolus filename, or change the filename in the table entry for the Aeolus, to match the file.  Either way, it has no LODS, no debris, and no dammage submodels.  It is also lacking a certain technique that :v: used to make the flank-side turrets fire more, but that isn't serious.  It may still be huggy, so use at your own risk.  Thanks to Raptor for the original model, VA for its final assembly, conversion, and I think texturing, and finally ME for adding the proper fire-points, subsystems, paths, engine glows and dockpoints in PCS.

Later!

I really never understood how a Typhon with those blobby plasma gun thingy and small missiles could destroy a Orion and fleets of cruisers.

What's that name on the hull... I can't make it out?  So, did you import the pof details from my improvised model?

I do belive a Orion would own a typhon. It had more turrets (16 ompared to the 15 of the Typhon) and 5 of them were tripple Terran Huge Turrets....

It's prolly the Typhons fighters that got the 4th fleet...not the ship itself.

EDIT: Does anyone know if there is a Freespace 2 letter font out there? It would make makinng nameplates a lot easier...

I actually use a green background (transparent) as I made the neameplates a specia lplace just a few mm from the hull.

But getting the letters look right is killing me!

Do what i did on the Fenris then - cut the nameplate poly off the Orion, place it on your ship etc, and for the texture, use the exact dimensions of the orion nameplate - capital01-05a. That way you avoid all letter distortians. :)

And yes, the nameplate reads "GTC Advocate" - from TI. ;)

TP: no sorry - since i fixed the offset bug, both your values and some of the originals were off, and it ended up being easier redoing it by hand.

And in keeping with the topic of the thread, here's another simple one from a testing mission:

WM: yeah - that was just a bleeding edge WIP at the time, it's into the final tweaks now. :)

If I could get my Sobek to convert with the proper smoothing, it'd been done ages ago. But Modelview is showing it as having some absolutely horrid shading splotches, and I can't figure it out.

Does that mean that VA can release it now? :)
If a man consults whether he is to fight, when he has the power in his own hands, it is certain that his opinion is against fighting.
