Kazan, you've been warned before about making personal attacks.  Argue the issue; don't attack the person.

You are now Monkey For A Day.

Will you all stop it with the big print and the hating. I swear one day I am going to have a heart attack when I come across a political thread that doesn't involve hate and half-truths.
Government is the great fiction through which everybody endeavors to live at the expense of everybody else.

I know this is politically charged, I know I will get drawn into this at some point, and I know you guys are all on different sides of the argument and debate but understand one very important thing:

Do not resort to personal attacks of any kind, for any reason, no matter what the circumstance.

This...is not acceptable behavior.

Being the good natured (at heart) bunch that we all are, there's forgiveness and that sort of thing but don't wear it out.  There's absolutely no reason that you can't state what you think about the state of the union and on other issues but that is something different.

Thanks, my PSA is done for now.

No he didn't. Or if he did, I definitely missed it, because he said "nucular" several times.

My official position is:

If I believed everything he just said, I would be overjoyed. However, I am not nearly so naive as to believe the sincerity of his intentions. Actions speak louder that words, and all his talk is pretty much wasted on me.

Remeber kids, everything any politician or government ever does will be portrayed as good. There are literally almost no exception to this that I can think of. So talk is cheap.

Whatever it is, I think in the context of this speech, it falls under "democracy" just as much as the government we're setting up/have set up in Afghanistan and Iraq, and are apparently trying to set up in other countries.

What also irks me is that he basically said that it's Bad for Iran to have uranium and they should give it up to the US. At least hedidn't call them evildoers, I guess. From Iran's perspective, though, I wouldn't really see any reason to. And every reason not to.

Counterpoint 2: and completely lying about it, going back on every statement, doing nothing but spread disinformation and pay media shills to promote it (atleast three instances of this proven in the last two weeks)

oh to hell with it.....i knew from the title that this thread had about 4 replies before it became another warzone.  It amazes me how we think that we are going to change each other's minds by yelling...as if anyone here is really so stupid as to mistake the loudest voice for true leadership.

why do you guys suppose that no one can actually have a political debate without allowing it to degenerate into another stupid fight over the same stupid ****?

To be honest i voted Bush, and would do so again.  That said, i didn't even bother to watch the SotU.  I'll read the transcripts for myself.
