Good lord.  I leave the FS sceen for a couple of years and look what happens!  Practically, a whole new game.

I guess I'll have to dust off FRED and start up something new.  It's been 6 years(!) since I wrote the Aeos Affair.  I can't believe it's still one of the favorites.

Also, I see a number of the old guard are still around.  Setekh for one.  Hi man.

So, I was really needing to shoot up some ships, so I pulled out FS2 and re-installed.  I then decided to see what was up with new campains, etc.  I figured there wouln't be too much, since the game is so old.  How wrong I was!

The Open source project is spectacular.  Really great work guys.  I just finished Homesick (new to me) and was blown away by the quality of the story and by the new effects.

I'm going to give Inferno a whirl next and then load up The Babylon Project.  (I love that show.)

I've always been a lurker, but I guess I'll need to get more active.

Hello all.   It's good to be back.

Welcome (back)!!

Just some friendly reminders since you've been away so long...
Exits are to your right and left, and flamethrowers are under your seat. Be careful, though, as they are sometimes filled with water. If this is the case, try to club someone with the non-working shotguns in the weapon closet. Also, be careful while wandering the ventilation shafts, because sometimes Carl the Shivan lurks in there. If you happen to come across him, just toss him your lunch and hope that it satisfies him. If it doesn’t… pray. In the event of an emergency, you can and will be used as a flotation device.  The Plasma rifles in the forward locker are released only under authorization of an Admin, [V] God, and/or hyperintelligent shade of the color blue. Oh, and whatever you do, don't hit on Tiara, no matter how good of an idea it might seem.
Wash: This landing's gonna get pretty interesting.
Mal: Define "interesting".
Wash: *shrug* "Oh God, oh God, we're all gonna die"?
Mal: This is the captain. We have a little problem with our entry sequence, so we may experience some slight turbulence and then... explode.

Welcome back!  As far as I know, Aeos Affair is still on the TF Volition Watch servers....till they take it all down.

I kept a copy just incase it did so I can keep it achieved.  I know we hosted the site so it was nice to keep.  Check out the Battlestar Galatica mod progress in the MOD forum as well...unbelievable stuff they are doing.

Were you known as Picklehead back "then", too?

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

FUKOOOOV!

Thanks, all.

Sandwich: Yes, I've always been PickleHead.  PXO, Forums, etc.  All the same.

IceFire!  Another old guard!  Still kick'n, I see.  I've also got Aeos archived.  The Website and Walkthrough as well.  If you want, you can re-host it here in HLP.  It seems like VWatch is kinda dead.  (Shame, too.  That was a killer site, back in the day.)

WMCoolmon: Careful.  Aeos'll kick you in the a$$.  (evil smirk)  But give it a go.  IMHO, it's one of the top 5 all time best campaigns.  But then again, I'm biased.  :)

Raa (Snipes): I seem to remember a snipes.  PXO?

And, thanks for the beam...
Glad to see that this (Still) isn't an overly serious community.

As for Carl, well, we go waaaaaay back too.

Later,
PickleHead
