What was I supposed to do it kept tearing up the garbage and crapping in the yard no matter how many times I shot it with the pellet gun.  And I wasn't about to kill my neighbors dog.

It was one of those little yipping dogs that won't shut up but i like dogs I have a golden retreiver myself.  If you think what I did was bad you don't wanna know what my friend did.  (what he did didn't injure the dog but if dogs had a sense of pride *ouch*

I agree with Hippo.  If you really feel the need to shoot something, shoot the owner or yourself.  Don't torture a defenseless animal - which knows not of the human concepts of gardens or refuse - and don't excuse it by 'oh, someone I know did worse'.

I'll have to admit I missed Dough with Fish' post.  In summary, I have nothing for contempt for people who choose to torture or abuse animals; it's unecessary for culling purposes, and cruel (you wouldn't do it to an unruly child, who has more of a sense of right and wrong) for disciplinary purposes.

I see nothing wrong with your actions, Swantz.  If the owners are too stupid to properly restrain/train the dog, you really have no choice but to take matters into your own hands.  It's not like the dog suffered any serious or lasting harm; it just got the **** scared out of it.  Then again, I can't stand dogs.

Well see the fact is I like dogs but sometimes owners don't take very good care of their dogs and they become very unruly.  And as the old saying goes you can't teach an old dog new tricks.  And what I did didnt even hurt the dog, I fired the bottle rocket from a peice of pvc piping to hopefully scare it off for good.  I mean it bothers me to kill a fish when I go fishing.
